Aquatic species

Aquatic systems, tanks and water quality

Each aquatic system shows its tanks and water quality, and embryos, tadpoles and fish are counted by tank as groups.

X. laevis, X. tropicalis and zebrafish come with every plan.

X. laevis System A: a grid of tanks, each with its lab, species, frog count and stocking, and tank A-04 marked over density.
Screens from a sample facility. Its labs, people and rates are examples.

Water readings against target ranges

Log a reading for a whole system or for one tank, and each value is checked against that system's target ranges as you type.

X. laevis and X. tropicalis systems start from published adult ranges.

Logging a water reading for System A: each field shows its target and last value, ammonia 0.8 mg/L is marked out of range, and the form asks what was done.

Out-of-range readings

Saving an out-of-range reading asks what was done, or for a recheck, and the reading keeps that note.

It also adds an alert in the app.

Recent water readings for System A, with an ammonia reading out of range on October 2 and the action taken, a 25% water exchange rechecked the next morning.

Tank density

Frog tanks are checked against stocking density from their volume.

A tank over the limit is marked on its system and on Today.

Stocking density by tank volume
AnimalsRoom in the tank
X. laevis adults and froglets1 per 3 liters
X. tropicalis adults and froglets1 per liter
Xenopus tadpolesUp to 4 per liter

Clutches and groups

Record a clutch and split it into tanks as counted embryo groups.

Each group has a stage, such as tadpoles at NF 45 or zebrafish larvae at 5 days after fertilization.

Clutches and groups: Xenopus tadpole groups at NF 45, 50 and 57, froglets, and zebrafish larvae at 5 dpf, each with its count, tank and lab.

Count history

Every change to a group's count records the date, the reason and who made it.

Groups can also change stage, move to another tank or close.

A tadpole group at NF 45 with Change count, Update stage, Move tank and Close group, and its count history: 4 died on October 9.
