Offline mouse colony management software

Run ConductColony offline

Install ConductColony on a server inside your facility. Cage, breeding and protocol records stay on your network, and the app works with no internet connection.

ConductColony on your facility networkThe ConductColony server, office computers, animal room devices and backup storage sit inside one boundary labelled your facility network. The internet sits outside it, and no line crosses to it.InternetYour facility networkConductColonyserverOfficecomputersAnimalroomsBackupstorage
Everything runs inside your facility network. Nothing needs to reach the internet.

Why offline suits an animal facility

Records stay on your network

Animals, cages, breeding pairs and genotypes live on your own server. ConductScience does not hold a copy.

It works where Wi-Fi does not

Barrier rooms and basement vivaria often have weak or blocked internet. ConductColony only needs your facility network, so cage checks and data entry keep going.

It fits a locked-down network

Devices in animal areas are often kept off the open internet. The offline edition makes no outside connection by default, so your security review has one server to check.

Sponsor data stays in house

Study animals held for a sponsor, or under a data-use agreement, keep their records on servers you control.

Your IT team sets the update day

Updates install only when your IT team applies them. The software does not change in the middle of a census or an inspection.

How the offline edition works

  1. It installs on your server

ConductColony runs on a server in your building, or on one computer for a single user.

  2. Staff sign in with your accounts

Technicians, managers and vets use your organization's accounts, through your own directory.

  3. Your IT team applies signed updates

Each update is a signed file. Your IT team installs it when ready and can roll back to the previous version.

  4. Backups go where you choose

Your IT team picks the backup location, and a restore is tested during setup.

  5. AI features run where you choose

On a model on your own hardware, or through your organization's own cloud account.

What stays the same

It is the same ConductColony, running on your server.

  • Colony records

Every animal, cage and strain, organized by facility, room and rack.

  • Cage cards

Printable cage cards with QR codes for quick lookup at the rack.

  • Breeding and genotypes

Breeding pairs, litters, genotypes and pedigree trees.

  • IACUC protocols

Usage counts against approved limits, expiry alerts and census reports.

  • Roles and activity log

Roles for PIs, lab managers, technicians and vets, with every change logged by user and time.

  • Import and export

Bring records in from a spreadsheet, and export any table as CSV.

Getting set up

Offline setup is arranged with your IT team. Together we size the server, connect sign-in to your directory and choose where backups go.

It suits barrier facilities, core facilities, CROs and any colony whose computers stay off the internet.

Questions about running ConductColony offline

No. Staff use it over your facility network. It reaches the internet only if your IT team turns on update checks or a cloud AI account.

In a database on your server, inside your network. Backups go to a location your IT team chooses. Support files you send us for troubleshooting hold logs and settings, never colony records.

With your organization's accounts. The offline edition connects to your directory, such as Active Directory, or to your own sign-in provider on your network.

Each update comes as a signed file. Your IT team installs it when it suits the facility, over the network or carried in on a drive for a closed network. The app backs up first, and the previous version stays ready if you need to roll back.

Your license is a small signed file that the app checks on your server, with no internet needed. If a license runs out, a grace period follows. After that the app becomes read-only: staff can still sign in, view and export records, and nothing is deleted.

A server in your building, or one computer for a single user. Your IT team can run it as containers or import it as a virtual machine. We size it with your IT team for your colony and the number of people using it.

On a model on your own hardware, or through your organization's own cloud account, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure. Your IT team chooses. Colony records, breeding and protocols all work without AI.
